Algae are super nutrient dense foods. All algae will contain some phosphorus in minimal trace amounts. Since phosphorus is one of those nutrients essential for life we cannot, nor should we try to eliminate it completely. I understand that phosphorus gets a bad rap in kidney disease and excessive amounts, like what is found in meat, can be problematic, however this does not apply to Biopreparation. Since your dog is showing some kidney distress even if it has not progressed to kidney disease I would suggest aggressively supporting this area of the body while not limiting protein. I would also consider filling out our Pet Wellness Form and one of our wellness counselors will review it and respond with suggestions and help sheets for your dog.
