High intake of the amino acid hydroxyproline, naturally found in collagen, may contribute to the formation of calcium oxalate stones. However, the key word here is "high or large" intake and the relatively small serving size used of this supplement for a dog or cat does not qualify as a large amount of hydroxyproline. I feel it is fine to use our Bovine Cartilage supplement but you have to use your own judgement for your dog. I would also concentrate on supporting your dog's immune system with a healthy, whole food diet and appropriate immune supporting supplements. Please use our Pet Wellness Consultation Form if you would like our recommendations. I would like to quickly mention to provide your dog with filtered, or clean, water free of disinfectants like chlorine found in municipal water for urinary tract health.
