As you may already realize, medications like steroids will address symptoms, but not address the root cause of the condition and your dog will not get any better. Providing an easier to digest diet with ingredients you can control is often beneficial for pets with this condition. Your dog could benefit from a healthy, whole food diet. This diet can be home-prepared, a premix to which you add your own meat or a commercially prepared whole food diet. We offer suggestions in our article How to Feed Your Dog.
