Our Whey Protein Isolate is used to supplement a diet with extra or better protein. This can be used for a dog with kidney disease to replace some meat with whey protein isolate because it is lower in phosphorus (one tbsp equals 5.25 grams of protein). For a dog with kidney disease instead of the usual 80/20 ratio of protein to veggies you may use a 60/40 ratio to reduce the phosphorus in the diet. This diet can be home-prepared, a premix to which you add your own meat or a commercially prepared whole food diet. We offer suggestions in our article How to Feed Your Dog. We also offer a Kidney Supplement Package to support a dog with kidney disease as well as an educational video called Kidney Disease in Dogs to help you learn more about this pet health condition.
