We generally recommend Omega-3 Pet Fish Oil for customers that are looking for the anti-inflammatory benefits of the EPA and DHA fatty acids it contains. An animal's body does not efficiently convert an essential omega 3 fatty acid like alpha-linolenic into EPA & DHA, so fish oil is a good option. On the other hand, we often recommend Organic Chia Seed Oil for overall omega-3 supplementation due to its content of the essential fatty acid (must be obtained from the diet) alpha linolenic acid. Providing Chia Seed Oil to a dog or cat will help to improve the ratio of omega-3 (anti-inflammatory) to omega-6 (inflammatory) fatty acids in their diet. Additional benefits of chia seed oil include the fact that it is a renewable resource, contains a better omega-3 profile compared with other oils like hemp and flax seed, and is especially beneficial for skin health. The transition from one oil supplement to the other doesn't have to be difficult. I would suggest just cutting back on one oil over a few days and then gradually introduce the new oil over a few days.
