Biopreparation can do a lot of things, and while I feel it can improve the overall vitality of your husky, I don't feel it will help to reduce the size of his prostate gland. Your vet is correct that neutering a dog, unless there is another issue such as prostatitis (infection), will cause his enlarged prostate gland to shrink. This is because the prostate gland is controlled by testosterone, which is produced by the xxxx . By removing the xxxx , the source of testosterone is eliminated, causing the prostate to return to a normal size. This can make your dog more comfortable as well as being sexually frustrated can not be fun for your dog and neutering will help. However, if you wish to there is one more thing you can try before the surgery and that is a saw palmetto and nettle root supplement or herbal extract you can find online. I say both of these herbs because they both affect the prostate differently and since we aren't exactly sure what the issue is using both herbs would be appropriate. Keep in mind that supplements found online have instructions for people (150 lbs) so you have to adjust the dosage for your size dog. To help with the other issues your dog is experiencing you can use our Pet Health Consultation Form so we have more information to better help you and your dog.
