Your dog's health issues are more complicated than I usually address in this question and answer format and I encourage you to use our Pet Health Consultation Form so we can better help you. However, I will offer a couple of suggestions to get you started. I would add in the Sunflower Lecithin that provides phospholipids that form a key part of the protective mucosal barrier in the gut, strengthen the gut lining, and aid in the digestion and absorption of fats. Ascites (fluid build up in the abdomen) is often a result of liver disease. One of the side effects of the medications you mentioned in your question is liver damage so I wonder if the two are connected. Second, I question the need for all of the medications your dog is on that include immune suppressors and vasodilators . I researched this and vasodilators can in fact contribute to ascites especially in dogs with liver disease. I would discuss weaning off the medications with your veterinarian as I believe they may be contributing, or actually causing, your dog's ascites and damaging his liver. If liver damage is in fact possible we would like to start your dog on a liver support protocol.
