We suggest feeding a healthy, whole food diet right up until the final stage of kidney disease, which is basically right at the end. This is because if you cut back on protein this will negatively impact the heart, connective tissue and immune system. So you will basically have a sick, weak dog with better kidney blood tests results. You can see the effect the prescription diet had on your dog for a short period of time. Your dog will have some protein in her urine with a regular diet and this is expected. If you get concerned and want to lower her protein a little bit, add 10% or so steamed veggies to replace some of the protein in her Farmers Dog Food.
