The relatively small serving size of the Internal Powder shouldn't alkalize the urine. While alkaline urine can encourage the growth of struvite stones, this situation is generally caused by a type of bacteria associated with urinary tract infections. If you keep your dog healthy and the urinary tract healthy and clear it is less likely struvite stones will form. I would just like to mention the importance of a healthy, wet diet. Dry kibble diets can lead to more concentrated urine and accumulation of urinary calculi. Your dog could benefit from a healthy, whole food diet. This diet can be home-prepared, a premix to which you add your own meat or a commercially prepared whole food diet. We offer suggestions in our article How to Feed Your Dog.
