Yes, I feel that using our Pain Relief herbal remedy along with our Liver Tonic and SAM-e will be fine. The reason we suggest caution with using medications or supplements that can increase serotonin is because an herb in the Pain Relief formula called St. John's Wort can also increase serotonin levels. However, this herb is only one part of the formula and not in a significant amount so I don't feel it will be an issue with SAM-e. While SAM-e can synthesis serotonin in the brain, it is not as much of a concern as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) that increase levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin by blocking its reabsorption, and as a result have a much stronger effect on serotonin levels in the brain than a usual dosage of SAM-e.
