Struvite stones in dogs are primarily caused by two things: urinary tract infections that increase urine pH and concentrated urine. I suggest that along with our
Antilithic that you also use our
UTI Relief herbal remedy for two weeks or so until the situation is resolved. After this period use our
Antilithic for one week every month to help keep your dog's urinary tract healthy. I would also use our
Microbiome Harmony to help support the health of your dog's microbiome that I am sure has been damaged by antibiotics prescribed by your veterinarian for her urinary issues. The one thing that jumped out at me is the use of the freeze-dried food. You mentioned in your question that the food is air-dried however on their website they say freeze-dried. Freeze-dried dog food generally has a very low moisture content, typically ranging between 2% and 6%. If you feed this dry then it is quite bad, and even if you mix it with water this type of dry food does not rehydrate well and the water is lost in urine. This leads to a dehydrated dog and concentrated urine and then urinary tract infections and crystal formation. Your dog could benefit from a healthy, whole food diet. This diet can be home-prepared, a premix to which you add your own meat or a commercially prepared whole food diet. We offer suggestions in our article
How to Feed Your Dog. I wouldn't get too caught up in what ingredients are on a "do not feed list" as I don't feel that is the issue. The issue is the very dry diet and the use of medications that have damaged the ecology of her urinary tract. Since crystals form in more alkaline urine I would also consider our
Cranberry Powder added to meals to help support healthy urine pH.
