No, Chia Seed Oil will not replace the recommendation of chia seeds for idiopathic hypercalcemia in cats. It is the fiber in the chia seeds that decreases calcium absorption in the digestive tract. It is recommended to soak 2g of chia seeds in water to create a gel and mixing it into food. A high-quality wet diet (e.g., Ziwi Peak, Feline Natural or Nature's Logic) is also recommended to increase water intake and support kidney function. Since kidney health can play a role in hypercalcemia in cats you may also wish to consider our Kidney Tonic for your cat as well.
