Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) has a distinctive set of symptoms that cause structural damage to the digestive tract. Alternatively, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is more of a functional disorder that has varying symptoms and does not usually cause structural damage. I agree with you that your dog's symptoms could be described as IBS. It sounds like your dog is not digesting his food properly and instead the food is fermenting and causing gas and discomfort. The first step is to use our Daily Multi Plus that contains digestive enzymes and probiotics to promote better digestion of food. We have other supplements we often recommend for IBS, but it doesn't look like your dog needs these at this time from what you describe in your question. Since kibble and processed pet foods in general can be harder for many dogs to properly digest, I feel that your dog could benefit from a diet of real, whole foods. This diet can be home-prepared, a premix to which you add your own meat or a prepared, whole food diet. We offer some suggestions in our article How to Feed Your Dog.
