Doxepin® is an antidepressant medication that can increase levels of serotonin in the brain. Since our Nerve Tonic contains the herb St. John's Wort, that can do the same thing, this remedy would be contraindicated with that type of medication. Doxepin® is used off label by veterinarians as it is a human antidepressant. Is your dog experiencing benefits from that medication for his laryngeal paralysis as studies do not show much benefit. I ask this because if your dog has not experienced benefits from the medication he would probably be better served by the Nerve Tonic. Any changes in medications should be done under the supervision of your veterinarian. Having said that your dog can take our other supplements and herbal remedies along with the Doxepin®. Our Laryngeal Paralysis Support Package has been specifically created to support the neuromuscular system in dogs and cats.
