Generally, commercial pet food diets do not provide enough bulk as a dog or cat's evolutionary diet would provide - consider bone and fur. I suggest that you consider a homemade diet or prepared whole food diet. A raw diet would be ideal as it would contain bone and this would help to naturally express your dog's anal glands. We provide some instructions and diet suggestions in our article How to Feed Your Dog. I also suggest our Constipation Relief supplement to add bulk to your dog's diet. Lastly, silica is a cleansing mineral and often recommended for this type of issue and we provide the Cell Salt #12 silicea for this purpose.
