Yes, your dog can use our Respiratory Tonic while on Prednisone® with a couple of precautions. This herbal formula contains licorice root that has glycyrrhizin as a constituent that has a chemical structure similar to corticosteroids. This can have a cortisone-like side effect when given in high doses over a prolonged period of time and when giving a medication like Prednisone® can accentuate its effects. The licorice root in our formula is not in high amounts so we don't have a concern with its use, but just to be cautious provide the Respiratory Tonic at least one hour apart from the Prednisone®, follow our dosage recommendations and use on a five days on and two days off schedule if our herbal remedy will be used long term.
