We recommend using our Addison's Disease Support Package for at least one month to get an idea of how it is going to benefit your dog. We understand that for a large dog this can be more costly and we appreciate your dedication to your dog. Unfortunately, the use of a corticosteroid medication like Prednisone® will further weaken the adrenal glands over time along with other undesirable side effects for the liver and other organs. We certainly don't want to push medications for your dog, however often Fludrocortisone® is used along with Prednisone® to replace the missing aldosterone, which helps to regulate the body's sodium and fluid balance. Often, Celtic® sea salt is recommended for those with Addison's Disease and this can be discussed with your veterinarian. Please follow our suggestions for a healthy, whole, food diet, and read our article How to Feed Your Dog, and also please avoid vaccinations and the use of flea and tick medications as these can further stress your dog's system.
