The recommended dosage of Elk Velvet Antler for Dogs is based on a formula of 15 – 20 mgs per kilogram of body weight once or twice per day. This recommendation comes from research performed at the University of Montreal. For example, a 40 pound dog (approximately 18 kg) would get about 360 mgs up to twice a day. No side effects were noted during this research with the use of EVA in animals at the above dosage recommendation. The serving of Elk Velvet Antler that we recommend is based on one serving, that can be divided in half and mixed into the morning and evening meals. According to the research above our serving suggestion can safely be increased to two servings (so double what we suggest) without side effects. If your dog is still having signs of pain even after increasing the serving of Elk Velvet Antler you may consider adding in our Bovine Cartilage supplement for additional joint support with type II collagen.
