Yes, the gelatin capsule we use work well to make sure our Systemic Enzymes formula dissolves properly and the enzymes are absorbed in the small intestine. Let me offer a few explanations as to why we feel these capsules are better than enteric-coated. We suggest that you provide our systemic enzyme capsules on an empty stomach and this is when stomach acid is at its weakest. This virtually guarantees that the encapsulated enzymes will survive and make it to the small intestine where most absorption of nutrients occurs. Importantly, enteric-coated capsules & tablets do not always dissolve reliably in the small intestine. While the coating is designed to resist the acidic environment of the stomach and dissolve in the more alkaline small intestine, several factors can prevent this from happening as intended and they can sometimes fail to dissolve until they reach the colon or even at at all. Lastly, while our capsules are made with pharmaceutical-grade gelatin & water, enteric-coated tablets/capsules use various types of synthetic polymers that can be classified as plastics, and some of these can be quite unhealthy for an animal.
