Raw Food for Cats is not new but is currently in an ever-increasing upswing in popularity. This is mainly due to the epidemic of negative health issues our cats are suffering from due to the use of heavily promoted and highly processed kibble and canned food diets.
Raw cat food diets on the other hand are not processed and the result is food rich in all the nutrients Mother Nature has provided. All of our cats are descendants of desert felines, so our cat's ancestors have been eating a raw cat diet for thousands of years. When a carnivore eats an herbivore (plant and grass eating animal) like a rabbit or a mouse, the carnivore eats some meat, some bone, some organ meats (liver, heart, kidney, etc.), and a small amount of green vegetation contained in the herbivore's digestive tract. These ingredients are the four main food groups of a good raw diet. Funny, there are not many grains found in our cat's ancestral diet, yet grains make up the bulk of highly processed kibble and canned cat food diets.
So, go raw for all meals or alternate with the highest quality canned or kibble dog food diets you can afford. Start young, if you can, raw kitten food is the way to go!
