Hot Spot and Wound Powder for dogs and cats has been created to stop bleeding, alleviate pain, promote a healthy immune response and speed healing of hot spots, minor wounds and various skin irritations. Formulated by a certified Master Herbalist using USDA Organic herbs specifically for animals, our wound healing powder will give your dog or cat the speedy help they need to help their skin issue heal faster while minimizing their discomfort. Comes in a convenient shaker bottle so it is easily dispensed onto hot spots and other wounds.

We always try to approach issues like hot spots and skin issues in a holistic manner. This means trying to work with the body to make it stronger so issues like hot spots do not arise again. This is a very different approach when compared to allopathic veterinary medicine that uses pharmaceutical drugs to suppress symptoms. In the case of hot spots or wounds this most likely includes the use of topical creams containing corticosteroids and numbing agents, antibiotics and maybe even an internal dose of another steroid like prednisone.

This is an approach that will eventually weaken your animal's immune system leading to more frequent infections and deeper health issues. For issues like hot spots focus on a healthier diet, boosting your dog or cat's immune system with astragalus, colostrum and/or a mushroom blend and use this powder to heal and repair your animal's skin naturally.

Available in a 50 gram glass shaker bottle.

What if my dog licks the Hot Spot Wound Powder?

Some dogs and cats will instinctively lick something that has been applied to their body. This can of course defeat some of the purpose of applying the powder in the first place. In this case what we suggest is to clean the area and apply the powder. Do this at a time when you can distract your pet for 15 or 20 minutes.

Good examples would be before a meal, play time or a walk or any time you can keep an eye on your pet and distract them from licking. This time of contact will give the remedy some time to work and if done two or three times daily will usually be sufficient.

What to Look for in a Superior Wound Powder:

Organic Herbs

Our formula contains certified USDA organic herbs. Research shows organic herbs have higher amounts of important nutrients as opposed to conventionally raised plants. Organic farming methods are also better for the environment and of course do not have the levels of residual pesticides that conventionally grown herbs can have. We also do not use wild crafted herbs in our formulas as this practice can damage wild populations of herbs and you do not necessarily know where the herbs are coming from or have been grown. Instead, we prefer to be on the safe side and only obtain herbs from USDA certified organic farms.

Natural Ingredients

Natural ingredients are going to be gentler on your animal's body when compared to synthetic chemical ingredients or medications. The proper natural constituents are able to provide the body with what it needs to heal and get better. This is in direct contrast to synthetic ingredients or medications that can be especially hard on the liver and kidneys. Medications are also designed to have a symptom suppressing action in line with the principles of allopathic medicine which is to create a diagnoses and then use drugs to suppress symptoms. Using this course of action can never result in true healing and is not really meant to.

Uses only Human Grade Ingredients

Our products are manufactured using human grade ingredients. In the pet industry this is far from the rule as many companies use pet quality ingredients, those considered "not fit for human consumption".

Uses Fresh, High Quality Ingredients

We purchase our ingredients from some of the most highly regarded companies in their respective fields so you and your animals are ensured the finest quality supplements. In addition, we purchase in small quantities to make sure the products we provide to you are fresh and bursting with important nutrients. This is in direct contrast to many other products on the market that can spend a year or longer sitting in non-climate controlled warehouses before they even get to you.

A proprietary blend of certified USDA organic herbs: Yarrow Herb (Achillea millefolium), Calendula Flowers (Calendula officinalis), St. John’s Wort Herb (Hypericum perforatum) and Comfrey Root (Symphytum officinale)

About the Organic Herbs in this Formula

Yarrow Herb for Dog Hot Spot

Yarrow Herb - An important herb in any first-aid formula because of its ability to stop bleeding and disinfect wounds.

Calendula Flower for Dog Hot Spot

Calendula Flowers - An antiseptic that acts as an antibacterial and antifungal, this herb also promotes cellular repair helping wounds to heal quickly.

St. John's Wort for Dog Hot Spot

St. John's Wort Herb - This herb has anti-inflammatory effects that help to minimize the discomfort of wounds along with valuable constituents that are antimicrobial and speed healing.

Comfrey for Dog Hot Spot

Comfrey Root - Rich in allantoin and mucilage, this herb is valued for its soothing properties and ability to activate the healing of damaged tissue.
What about the pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) in comfrey root?
There is much disagreement over the possible harmful effects of these alkaloids, with testing having been done using high doses on rats in the 1970's using a stronger herb called Russian comfrey. However, there is one thing most herbalists agree on, and that is using common, medicinal comfrey (Symphytum officinale) for short periods at a time, as it is used here, is safe.

No Additives in Hot Spot Wound Powder

Apply liberally to hot spots, wounds and various skin irritations. Makes a wonderful, natural styptic powder to stop bleeding. Make sure deeper, more serious wounds are properly disinfected before use. Apply once to several times per day as needed.

Important: If deeper wounds are not properly disinfected this product will speed healing and may cause tissue to form over the wound before it is healed deeper down which can lead to abscess.

Storage: Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.

Is it okay if my dog licks this powder?
Yes, that is fine. Herbs, like yarrow, are bitter so this should not taste so good to your dog to cause excessive licking/ingestion.
